How to make your portfolio illustrates

As illustrators we have come across the question, "how to make a good portfolio? and of course triggered millions more, what work wear? "I do not spend digital or print? "I better do a blog or a Facebook? and well ... everything to make us notice.
This post is to share this experience and listen to that all we had,
happened a couple of tips I've learned with my colleagues, personal experience and some informal discussions with professional artists.

A simple concept. Keep it simple and point ! is not the same as saying a simple concept nor does it mean simple or basic. Do it easy to explain and understand in a few minutes and words. Acordate that when you show your portfolio is not always going to be, so you must sold by itself.

The best of the best. Take a reading specialize in what you want, just be honest and put your best work. Is quality over quantity: 10 or 20 regular good? Always good to have variety, but be faithful in what you want to focus.

The process account. Poné completed projects from the first sketches and the whole process to be addressed to achieve the final result. This communicates to the client the time, dedication and how you work out ideas.

The picture says, but the word supports you. If you're facing the customer always have the opportunity going to explain your work. So it is good to let a little explanation in 2 or 3 lines without elaborating. Yes you can extend yourself Where is your website or online portfolio, as more time and space.
• Digital or printed
. Simple, the 2 forms, there is no choice:)
• A good curriculum
: If your portfolio is with a good concept and design or illustration, why not do it in the curriculum? you have to impress and get noticed more than the competition. Here I leave you some good examples of what I say:

. Always tell something about yourself, where you are, what you specialize, but studies that have done so written something short and if you can put a better picture and know who is behind everything.

• Website
. In these times, the designer has no website is because it is not designer. If it costs the web, there are default templates for free you can facilitate this, later we will post on this topic.
• Easy to update. own experience, always makes a site easy to update and navigate. Not everything has to be flash in the part where you show your work, but you will tardarte loading them all day and moving your squad.

Social Networks. Today everything comes faster through social networks, tené a facebook, twitter or myspace but a professional manner. A profile of your professional service only and do not mix with your privacy.
• Blogging or not blogging
. A blog is essential. Here you can extend explaining your processes or experiences your project, consider it as part of the DVD which comes the "making of" movies. Also receive a "feedback" from your work faster.
Something that keeps alive a blog is updated very often, if possible daily.

not only have to call collect. Always, ALWAYS! when are the birthdays of your customers, Christmas or any holiday, Give your customers and fans greeting cards or virtual. Acórdate that must always be on the minds of people.
• Contests
. awards competitions are good but the free publicity is better! Involved when pruning in these events, as they always have massive scope, who removed and win the prize, but is one more piece to your portfolio.
• Cards
. For a good illustrator is always advisable to put a picture on your card, since it is easier for the customer to remember one by means of an image.
